Andrew Anderson was a sixth generation American. He was descended solely from Dutch stock. His American ancestors emigrated from the Netherlands between about 1630 and 1660 into New York and New Jersey.

One of Andrew Anderson’s most famous ancestors was Colonel Philip Pieterse Schuyler, who was one of the original settlers of Albany (Beverswyck), New York.
